Terms of use
Last updated 25 September 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Spotco for using Spotco. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the app.
1. Who can use Spotco
You must be 18 or over. You need an account, and the details on it must be true, in particular your name, because other people use it to recognise you when you turn up.
One account per person. Do not share it, and do not create a new one to escape a suspension or a reliability score you did not like.
2. What Spotco is, and what it is not
Spotco lets people find and organise their own activities. We provide the app and website. We do not organise, run, supervise, coach, insure or attend the events listed on them.
The host of an event is its organiser. They decide where it is, who can join, what it costs and how it runs. We are not a party to the arrangement between a host and the people who join, or between either of them and a venue.
We do not vet or background-check anyone. Reliability scores and reviews are built from what people report about each other; they are useful signals, not guarantees.
3. Meeting people in person: please read this
The whole purpose of Spotco is that you go somewhere and meet people you may not know. That carries real risk, and it is yours to weigh.
- Use your own judgement about which events to attend and who to meet.
- Sport and physical activity can cause injury. Take part only at a level you are fit for, and stop if you should.
- Tell someone where you are going. Meet in public where you can. Leave if you are uncomfortable. You owe no explanation to anyone.
- You are responsible for your own equipment, insurance and medical needs, and for following the rules of any venue you attend.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Spotco is not liable for injury, loss or damage arising from an event you attend, from the conduct of anyone you meet through Spotco, or from a venue’s premises. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
4. If you are hosting
When you publish an event you are telling people it is real and that you will run it.
- Describe it accurately: where, when, how long, what it costs, what level it suits, what to bring.
- Make sure you are allowed to use the location. If it is a venue, that means having booked it.
- Turn up, or cancel properly through the app. Cancelling notifies everyone who joined and returns anything they paid in the app.
- Do not charge for something you are not providing, and do not use an event listing to advertise something else.
- A public event is shown on the Spotco website and may appear in search engines, with your name, photo and reviews. Choose link only if you do not want that.
You cannot join or leave your own event. If you cannot run it, cancel it. That is the action that tells everybody and returns their money.
5. If you are joining
- Turn up if you said you would. People plan around the number who committed.
- You can withdraw up to 12 hours before an event starts. After that the place is yours and the app will not let you give it up, because the host is already counting on it. If you genuinely cannot make it, tell the host.
- Not turning up without withdrawing is recorded as a no-show and lowers your reliability score, which other hosts can see.
- Leaving a waiting list is always free, whenever you do it.
- If an event does not reach its minimum number of people, it may be cancelled; you will be told, and anything paid in the app is returned.
6. Money
Free events, and events you pay for at the venue
Most events are free. Where an event says you pay at the venue, that money is between you and the venue or host. It does not pass through Spotco, and we cannot refund it.
Your Spotco wallet
The wallet holds credit for use inside Spotco. It is not a bank account, not electronic money, and not withdrawable as cash. It earns no interest.
- Where top-ups are available, you can add credit by card. Card payments are processed by Stripe under its own terms; we never see your card details.
- Credit also arrives when an event you paid for in the app is cancelled, fails to reach its minimum, or when you withdraw in time.
- Credit is spent when you join an event that charges in the app.
- If a card payment is reversed (refunded by your bank or disputed), the credit it bought is removed. If you have already spent it, your balance can go below zero until it is settled.
- Every movement is listed in the app with its reason and date. If a balance looks wrong, tell us and we will check it against that list.
Where an event is cancelled for you (by its host, by us, or because too few people joined), anything you paid in the app is returned to your wallet in full.
7. Content you post
Event descriptions, names, photos, line-ups, chat messages, reviews and your profile photo remain yours. You give us permission to store and display them in the app and, for public events, on the website, so Spotco can work. That permission ends when you remove the content, except where it has already been shown to others in a chat.
Only post what you have the right to post. A photo or flyer you did not make and cannot license is not yours to upload, and photos of other people need their agreement.
8. Reviews
Only people who took part in an event can review its host or venue, and only after it has happened. Reviews must be honest and about the experience, not about someone’s appearance, and never offered or withheld in exchange for anything. We may remove a review that breaks these terms; we do not remove a review because it is negative.
9. Conduct
Do not use Spotco to:
- Harass, threaten, bully or discriminate against anyone
- Post anything illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, or deliberately misleading
- List events that are unsafe, unlawful, or that you have no intention of running
- Impersonate someone else, or misrepresent a venue’s involvement
- Collect other people’s details, or use Spotco to advertise or recruit
- Interfere with the app or website, scrape them, or try to reach data that is not yours
You can report an event, a person or a venue from inside the app, and you can block anyone. A block hides both of you from each other and prevents joining each other’s events.
10. What we can do about it
Where something breaks these terms, we may remove content, rename or cancel an event, suspend an account, or close one. Where we cancel an event, everyone joined is told the reason and anything paid in the app is returned to their wallet.
We aim to act proportionately and to say why. If you think we got it wrong, write to support@spotco.app.
11. Venues
A venue that claims its listing can manage its availability, publish its own events and see its bookings. Claiming a venue means confirming you are authorised to act for it, and we may ask you to verify a phone number by SMS. Everything a venue publishes is its own responsibility, and the arrangement between a venue and the people who book it is between them.
12. Availability
We try to keep Spotco working and will not promise it always will. We may change or withdraw features. Where a change materially affects you, we will say so in the app.
13. Closing your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. What happens to your data, and what is kept because it belongs to other people too, is set out in the privacy policy. Please cancel any events you are hosting first, so the people who joined are told.
14. Changes to these terms
We will tell you in the app before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use Spotco after that means you accept the new version.
15. Law
These terms are governed by the law of Poland, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of protections you have under the law of the country you live in. If the language versions of these terms differ, the English version applies, to the extent the law allows.
